Were you aware that 90% of Australians are not eating enough fruit and vegetables? It should not come as a surprise that a diet high in fruit and vegetables can reduce the incidence of dietary and lifestyle diseases, such as gastrointestinal cancer. More than 13,000 children have undertaken the Gutsy Challenge run by the Gastrointestinal Cancer Institute, developing lifelong healthier eating habits. The Gutsy Challenge is a healthy and educational fundraiser aimed at raising awareness and funds for vital research into gastrointestinal cancers. Clinical trials are not about laboratories and test tubes. They are about real people fighting disease and getting access to the most effective medical treatments. While funds are integral, getting the word out about the preventative powers of healthy eating will help reduce the need for medical intervention. Check out the link to see how you, your children, or someone you know can get involved to help raise awareness.
The Gutsy Challenge can also be implemented at school, which makes it simple to implement!
